Progress...custom bevels done..now panel assembly..

whew!!!Ok all of the custom bevels are done...finally...in case you did not know...beveling is only expensive because it is so time consuming..  Now that they are done the door lites have to be copperfoiled and soldered...YES...this means there is still a lot of work to complete before I hit the beach...These door lites are all being installed in a grandroom/sunroom.. I should say "GREAT" room.  Every appointment at this residence is simply elegant.  A few touches of "BLING."  I love it!

So these are my column door lites in progress..Let me know what you think.

Have a Great Weekend!

One Extra Week...

Ok..postponed the vacation...  well the weather did...now going to a new destination "safer" (to make my mother happier)  and even hotter temperatures...and I get some more work done this week...It is all good... I am relaxing  more now... I should say "IT will be GREAT!"

So tomorrow I am going to try "puffy" glass again...have to say first attempt was laughable... of course I do not follow the rules or steps..i just make up my own..and this time it did not work...I will keep the project to look at..and maybe to remember why there are certain rules.  BUT by no means will this stop me from experimenting....just my nature...pushing these boundaries. And I am telling everyone its my cousin's piece :)

So hopefully all the custom beveling will be done tomorrow...60 pieces that are so small is a lot of work..but well worth it.

IF you have a look at my website http://www.glassworksstudio.ca  Please +1 me!  In the bottom of my first page "Glassworks Studio" there is a google plus one...HIT IT.......   if you like it...of course..no pressure!

Hope you all have a great night.

Stained Glass Toronto...at the studio this week.

Not too rub it in..but next week I will soaking up some rays...SO this week I am working my " " off...

I know that you have seen this picture of the "roman column" door lites...but this week they are shaping up very nicely.  I will post once complete...must say ..I love them...

Here is a picture of the drawn antique glass that I transformed into antique mirror with application of  antique silver coat.  COOL...

It is always hard leaving the shop for holidays...so much too do...and it is constant...  I am not complaining...it is exciting... just sometimes tiring...  Great projects are coming up and of course they are all started by my great clients...Have a great week!

Deadlines...

OK...not often am I faced with "deadlines" but for the next 10 days I have a lot of work to do...multiple projects on the tables and the "Roman Column" Doorlites have to be completed before I leave for vacation...which I have now pushed up to October 30.....no rest....

Tomorrow I am working on some custom bevels...(Dirty and time consuming...) and then I have to go to Buffalo on Wednesday...crazy.

Have to say a "thank you to Andrea" for helping out in the studio with foiling, cutting, building and design this week...Design for a client who has who has some religious tastes..but doesn't realize it???  Also worked on "Rennie" Inspired panels for a site in Oakville and also a door lite on the Kingsway...

Today was windy, cold and grey in Toronto..for all of you not local...just makes me more excited to be laying on the beach with my Kobo...and my refreshments!  :)

Contemporary Stained Glass Door...."The Studio Door...finally."

Ok...its funny...the door lite is done..well it still requires the trim BUT it is in the door.  I have to say I love it...I knew I would.  The issue is -as with all my panels that i live with- how long will I love it? How long until I am thinking ..."I should have done that or this or used different glass.. "  It always happens ...it is just the question of when.  I am just going to try to sit back and enjoy.. I have to admit it is great working away on clients' projects while admiring my first studio panel completed.

Description of glass used...Uroborus Red, Wissmach Red, Bullseye Single Rolled Purple, GNA, Acid Etched, custom bevels, stock double faceted jewels..

"She is a beauty.. I have to admit.."   Here are the pictures...of the door lite and my studio...

My New Studio Door lite...

www.glassworksstudio.ca      Ok this has been another crazy week...finally we are starting construction on the Roman Column door lites for the Mississauga client..  All week I have work late on 30 inserts that were delivered this morning...well actually lunch time by the time I got them cleaned and loaded up.  They looked good...tempered waterglass for this client...pictures to come around Christmas when the entire job is done...  Tomorrow I am in meetings with two new clients...one for more cabinet inserts and the other is for a series of stained glass panels for in fence gates...the first layout is of a sailboat in Bronte Harbor, Oakville...I am going to add some fused glass elements in this project...(Hatch windows, flag and maybe some dimensional elements in the water.... :)  )

My  new exciting project is a 1 1/2" thick Red Cracked Laminated Glass Counter Top for a job in Downtown Toronto...resembling the "manroom" glass I did earlier this year except that was cobalt blue...  Good Times only could be enjoyed with a Red Counter Top in a Bar....

Here is a photo of the new Studio Door Lite ...I know that is does not look like much on the table...but it is very nice...it keeps calling to me...distracting me...The background is GNA and acid etched..the focal color is Red... accented with Bullseye single rolled Purple....Cannot wait until it is done...

A little off track....

Ok..today I was suppose to be working on Overlay Doors for a big client....i had great intentions...but it did not happen....I was sidetracked by my own entrance....so I started the layout for my front door....Nice...Uroborus RED OPAL (there is nothing like it) Wissmach Red with gold streaks... Bullseye single rolled rich purple...a lot of custom bevels...double sided faceted jewels...with a clear GNA back drop....I cannot wait...but now I am behind in the rest of my work...Tomorrow I will be focused...  :)

Tomorrow before I start I am going to experiment with some copper screening in the kiln...between  2 sheets of clear...I want to see the bubbles...  I am also going to start working on a fibre form for my logo...so that I can leave a "Glassworks Studio"  impression in the lower corner of my door lite...maybe I will get out my paints and brushes...

Ok I have already lost focus....  Here's to tomorrow...have a great one!
