Bevels, Bevels and more Bevels, Glassworks Studio Toronto CANADA

This week I am starting full scale layout for a project that will start 2016....These windows are for a historically noted  property in Toronto... that I have been given permission to recreated instead of reglaze the existing.  There are a total of 64 windows for this project and great way to start 2016 in 2015.  With extensive bevelling that needs to happen .. all parties including my friends in California are very happy.. maybe this will warrant a trip in the spring. :)

Here are some pictures of previously completed projects that show our capabilities when it comes to this type of work.  Custom designed, custom bevelled, custom built....this is what I love to do!

First is the front door insert we did for a client in Halifax Nova Scotia. Next is just showing the amazing difference when we run the beveller on Low Iron Glass (no green inflection.) absolutely stunning with crystal like clarity.   Last but definitely not least... is the project we did for "The Strain," when the filming was being done in Toronto.

New Leaded Skylight Projects in February...Glassworks Studio.

Here is what is up next month...first up is a few leaded ceiling skylights...these are installed approximately 6' down from the exterior insulated skylight...  An amazing wood framework has been created by our trim carpenters.. the individual sections simply are dropped into place.  The wood detail that surrounds each section not only beautifully supports the leaded glass panels but also ties in seamlessly with the crown moulding and raised panel details that are also being installed...  Looking forward to seeing these being completed and final pictures being taken..  These are 2 skylights in this beautiful home being built in South Mississauga.

Leaded Glass Toronto, The creation of a skylight..

ok...today I was asked where does the process all begin....  At first I shot back a quick answer... "In my brain..  "... and then I started to laugh..  Well it all depends on the project and where the inspiration starts.....  the project that is currently under development is a large skylight space.. The rough opening that we are talking about is 140". Having amazing trades is so important.. From fine home builder, designer, gc, and trades.. We look at some details being incorporated into the project.. discuss the possibilities.  That is where it all starts...  SO EXCITING IS THIS BUILD PROCESS!   Here is the initial concept for this beautiful project as it starts...  might not look like much now...but OMG she will be beautiful!

Relaxing before 2013 craziness starts....

Ok...We are feeling a litttle stressed at the studio but we are still smiling...I am trying to relax before 2013....because as crazy as this sounds ...2013 is already pretty booked...  Our 2013 is actually starting early as we have 99 windows and 13 doorlites to compete for our Thornhill Project before February 1.. Exciting.. ")

We  also have  6 ceiling lenses for another Mississauga Project by mid December..It is funny we have worked on three different sites over the past year on the same street.  Have to say this is a first.  "Glassworks Studio..we are everywhere..."  LOL

..I love it... the excitement and the promises...Back from holidays and I just want to get going!!

Here are some pics  of 2nd street Oakville..Obviously Rennie Inspired..Have a great weekend!

NEW BUT ...Traditional Leaded Glass Windows installed in Toronto House.

I know that today is Saturday....however we are trying to finish up all of our little builds and installations before our "huge" Vaughan Project starts. A Saturday installation worked well for our client and us.  Here is an example of before and afters of what we do...

These leaded glass panles were installed from inside the home on the inner panel of the new thermal units...These windows were installed by Pella last month and today we installed the leaded glass panels on what we term side #4.  They are very traditional in design to go with the new front door that our client had installed also last month.

A little stained glass artwork at the studio today..

From little tiny concept drawing to full scale layout...We are definitely loving what we do lately...This feels like the calm before the craziness starts...  This project can be summerized by color, color, color....Just wait till you see the finished panel.

Leaded Cabinet Inserts..

These inserts are based off a project that I completed a few years ago...Once a door lite transformed into two cabinet inserts...Wow..."yes...we can do magic at the studio..." LOL

Here these beauties are...

Another Custom Leaded Transom...Glassworks Studio Toronto

This week was CRAZY...I thought I would be driving to Montreal to deliver panels for our New York Project this weekend...I know the wrong direction but that is where the Canadian Builder is located..you could say we had a little breakage in shipping Tuesday...Glass Breakage and Heart Break.  Amanda worked so hard on the "rush rebuild." I ran around with meetings and proposals for upcoming projects...picking up freshly "kilned" glass..all while negotiating Toronto traffic and crazy construction...

So I must thank Maritime Ontario Transport for their speedy pick up of my glass crate and immediate shipment to Montreal today...very impressive..and Thank you to everyone at ECO ...for helping us in our time of stress..

The week ended with a great feeling... I appreciate the great relationships  built with suppliers and clients...and when I needed some help it was there.

The last item of the day was the pick up of the Bolton Transom.  This was the first time out client had seen the finished product and she loved it....which just makes us love what we do even more.

Have a great Thanksgiving Weekend. Instead of Montreal I will be enjoying my father's Thanksgiving Feast...  :)

Look at the colors in this transom...Beautiful...next will be the sidelites..

This week at the studio we are finalizing a copperfoil project "Lotus," artwork for some ceiling lenses, a few doorlites and some kitchen inserts...

Leaded Glass Transom for Bolton Project

Color...lots of color....that besides amazing design just makes this project sparkle...oh AND we added some facetted jewels..

Anyway here is another example of what we love to do.. this project started off as landscape with ducks in flight..then transitioned into a landscape focusing on the waterfall that is on the property...

Then a complete 180 happened....this just shows that we do not always know what we are looking for ..but then it just evolves and becomes.....  WOW that was deep... All from a piece of glass..

I think I need some sleep....
Have a great night!

And an exterior pic...of the leaded casements and transoms!

OK...We know that leaded glass looks amazing from the inside of your home....AND I am of the opinion that "our opinions" are the most important (Anyone who knows me ...is probably changing the  "our" to "HER"..haha...funny funny...

Well here is a picture of my lastest installation and proof positive that as "GREAT" as decorative glass looks from inside your space....WOW it looks amazing from outside too!

Just saying... Simply Awesome!
