Beautiful and amazing artwork for these Family Crests!

This week we will be finishing up final artwork on these Family Crests for a fantastic project.. I am so excited to get started as these crests will utilize much of my glass knowledge and techniques.. sandblasting, back painting, fused glass powder sgrafitto technique, copper foil, and leading..WOW! I am so excited!  Here is the last artwork mock up... we will still be making a few changes... Of course!

Family Crests in the studio week.... its all about artwork and artglass!

This week we are starting up quite a few projects including the artwork for an Oakville Project...First stage is simplifying some of the details...  These panels (total of 6) will be installed quite high up so too much detail will just get lost in translation....

Here we are starting to work out the foliage to make it easier to cut but also to define the lines...

Looking great..and  "yes" this is simplified..   Leaded Glass @ Glassworks Studio...

Custom Design, Custom Build, High End Finish. Custom Leaded Privacy Panels for Oakville Project..

This project is a great way for us to continue our New Year... Working closely with the client and window manufacturer..we ended up focusing our design detail from custom plaster work being created on the ceiling about these 6 panels.  Completely different, very traditional and I think a little gothic..  End result ..."VERY COOL."  We are so excited to see these installed after they return from being sealed in thermal units.

Our New Year is starting just the way I  like it!  A little crazy in studio..We will be starting full scale on a beautiful front door lite for a project in Mississauga.. two small skylite panels for this same project...with some "bling introduced with the addition of Czech Jewels..NICE."

We at Glassworks Studio wish you all an amazing holiday break! And all the best in 2014! " I hope this year brings relaxation in what is ....the excitement of big changes and the acceptance of new ideas ...and a little crazy!" ENJOY!

Evolution of Design at the studio this week!! Change is good...

This week has been busy.  A lot of design going on in studio, a lot of building in the studio, new Client meetings and finalizing details on a few contracts...  Even a little dry wall repair...  Yes we are sure getting things done. I would like to call it the Christmas rush but I have to say this is all about the 2014 rush.  I know if is hard to believe I feel like 2014 is already here.  Here we go!

Here a  few pictures of what is finishing up, shipping out....  and what is coming up at Glassworks Studio. Enjoy.... we are. :)

Stained Glass Privacy Panel..."Flower Power," almost complete.

Here is the panel that we showed off  last week...well here is the progress....almost done...thank goodness for glass saws!  Check out the background glass...only a saw could do some of these cuts.  I have to admit the hardest thing we did was reassemble said saw.... which I dismantled over a year ago... Now it runs so well...new bearings, bushings and diamond blade! Sweet!

Gothic Glass, Ecclesiastical, Amazing..However you look at it ..she is beautiful!

This week I shared some of my responsibilities..it was the best thing I have done in a long time. Actually feels great...  at the same time I was reminded of some awesome pictures of  amazing projects that we completed in 2012... including this one.  Only one way to describe ...

Custom bevelled privacy panel..PART TWO..

This is why we love what we do...amazing clients and amazing projects!  Fridays is the catch up on paperwork day at the studio for me...by myself...I might meet with a few clients...but this day is suppose to be about reorganizing myself for the next week. "I did some paperwork today, but not much"... I just could not stop trying to capture the awesome light refraction going on in this panel... And although I did get some good shots..it is so hard to get the perfect one...  maybe I should go to photography class... I need some help.

This panel has so much going on..  Final destination is an amazing multi story condo in Toronto.  (Huge windows with tons of natural light...what I would term transitional design detail..) This panel incorporates some of the design detail from original leaded glass panels from the upper floor in the outer border...  deco.  The inner section is an adaptation from the panel we finished a few months ago.. We have incorporated a intense brown to pull in the color of the hardwood throughout the condo.  Except for the greens used in the leaves be have kept the remaining palette clear...crystal clear by using European Glass ..(some Saint Just from France and GNA from Germany.) As mentioned previously Starfire was used in the custom bevels we made and also some PWC Cathedral.   All of my favorites. Besides the beauty of this panel what also is amazing in the interior structure we have creating the flow of glass cut that intersection.  This makes the panel so strong from a structure point of view while adding to the beauty of the piece...  All most admirers see is a beautiful panel... I see a structurally stable "beautiful panel."  ;)

Simple, Elegant and Timeless Interior Leaded Door Panels for Oakville Project.

Today I had what ended up being an awesome pick me up for a day that was "a little frustrating...it was not a good cutting day at all for me.. Late this afternoon I received a call from our client in Indiana who received her shipment of  leaded glass panels  today...  And to say elated would be an understatement.    I cannot express our joy when another person understands our love for glass and our passion for what we do... Well she got... and loves it.

Here is the concept for the interior glass doors....a September project in Oakville.

NEW BUT ...Traditional Leaded Glass Windows installed in Toronto House.

I know that today is Saturday....however we are trying to finish up all of our little builds and installations before our "huge" Vaughan Project starts. A Saturday installation worked well for our client and us.  Here is an example of before and afters of what we do...

These leaded glass panles were installed from inside the home on the inner panel of the new thermal units...These windows were installed by Pella last month and today we installed the leaded glass panels on what we term side #4.  They are very traditional in design to go with the new front door that our client had installed also last month.

The beginnings of a flat panel skylight in Mississauga...

Someone asked me this week what is the best thing about what I do???? Working for myself....doing what I love..the great trades I work with...the amazing clients I work for that inspire me daily....There are so many things I do not know where to begin or stop...All I do is smile..."most days..."

Coming up are more great projects..a very linear interior doorlite in a Circa build....a meeting with the historic board for another build in Oakville, and a flat panel skylite to wrap our heads around....AWESOME...I love the familiarity of the flat panels that I considered my studios specialty...but I am so excited about venturing into something new....The next few months should be very exciting....PLUS a new studio space....AGAIN....I know!  Glassworks Studio is growing again....and I cannot wait.

Here are the pics...enjoy and have a great night!
